Machine Gun Kelly Rocks The Crowd at Club Soda

Hip hop artist Machine Gun Kelly performed to a packed house at Club Soda despite the freezing weather last night. And it was a definite showstopper.

The crowd had been waiting for two hours but it seemed like they had been anticipating him since his last stop at Club Soda a year ago. They barely tolerated the opening acts at times peppering chants of “we need MGK” like drug fiends on a frenzy. When he finally came out, the rapper himself could hardly stand still. He climbed just about everything and left it all on the floor, stripping his clothes to please the young women in the crowd. It felt like stumbling upon an old love affair.

“This music is dedicated to you,” MGK said. “Those who can hardly grow any facial hair. Who barely have any money in their pockets. Because I can remember a time when I was just like you. None of that diamonds and bling shit here.”

Although his studio work is mostly inspired by trap music, on tour, MGK’s sound is a well meshed offspring of hardcore rap and heavy metal. On stage, the customary DJ and hype man are accompanied by a virtuoso guitarist and a pale drummer who looked equally suited to cover Hedley.

Landing in Montreal as part of his Canadian Lace Up Tour, the headliner rocked for close to an hour. He played some brand new songs including one that he had recently wrote. Screaming throngs of fans shoved each other to get a better look at his tall heavily tattooed frame. They got up close and personal when MGK launched himself into the mob while his mega-hit Wild Boy practically tore up the speakers. His crowd surfing was the high point of the night. The Cleveland native then climbed the balcony and shared sweat with grateful teenagers. As grateful as the 23-year-old rapper was.

The Lace Up Tour is known for being racy and Machine Gun Kelly is very interactive with crowds. The Bad Boy Records rapper invited a couple of female fans to the stage making sure they weren’t underage. As soon as they joined him, one of them gladly flashed her breasts to an exhilarated crowd while MGK fondled her. He then simulated the two women performing fellatio on him as he delivered his lines.

When it was all said and done, the crowd and MGK went their separate ways like thieves in the night. But, not before giving each other a longing gaze. See you next time.
