Kinsha – Qui je suis (video)

I remember meeting Kinsha at performances at Jeunesse 2000, a youth organization based in Ahuntsic-Cartierville. Back then, we were the youth. We needed all the guidance we could get. The organizers would help us find our own voice through Hip-Hop and music, and now we find ourselves in positions where the youth look up to us, and I’ve seen Kinsha give a lot back to his community. In Villeray-St-Michel, he’s been a positive force for the kids and works guiding them towards more positive activities like boxing and martial arts. Though he is a busy community organizer, he’s still doing his thing in francophone reggae, a genre which has gained a lot of momentum in Africa in the past decades with international superstars like Tiken Jah Fakoly and before him, Alpha Blondy. Kinsha is originally from The Democratic Republic of Congo (Congo-Kinshasa). “Qui je suis” is a positive track that describes his philosophy, his first official videoclip proudly showcases the positive side of our vibrant multicultural communities in Montréal, with a nice summer vibe that will make us nostalgic in just a few weeks!
