GQ – The Town [Video] (prod. by 9th Wonder)

GQ, a.k.a Quentin Thomas, has moved from the NCAA basketball championships to becoming one of Oakland’s most promising up-and-coming lyricists.  He teamed up with 9th Wonder on his new video for “The Town”, the first single off his upcoming two-part release “Death Threats and Love Notes” (prequel + debut album). The video is directed by Kenneth Price & VanDope:

“Death Threats and Love Notes: The Prelude” EP is set to be released on March 26th and features guest appearances from Nipsey Hussle, Kurupt, Rapsody, Heather Victoria and production from 9th Wonder & The Soul Council.

GQ was part of the National Championships during his freshman year after joining the University Of North Carolina’s basketball program. He was featured on EA Sports’ NBA Live 10 soundtrack alongside Mississippi vet David Banner, before releasing a three-mixtape series “Blended” and “Trouble Man”, his first Jamla record.

The “Oaktown” rapper is not to be confused with some of the b-ball stars who practically made it a crime to move from sports to music (Shaq, Kobe, Kevin Durant). According to 9th Wonder: “he isn’t a basketball player that can rhyme; he is a rapper that can ball.”
